Villa K The renovation of this single-family house, idyllically located at the edge of the forest, became essential after its acquisition by the clients. Built in the 1960s, the house was defined by a fragmented cellular layout that no longer met the needs and expectations of a young family. Following a detailed architectural and technical assessment, it became clear that the façade, basement, ground floor, and first floor required comprehensive refurbishment. In addition, the house needed an entirely new infrastructure for drainage, water supply, heating, and electrical services. The façade was upgraded throughout, and the existing windows were replaced with contemporary timber-metal windows and large-format sliding doors. The centrally positioned entrance stairwell, with its polished travertine, Jurassic limestone, and sandstone finishes, was carefully preserved and sensitively restored. Existing details, including the cast-iron balustrade, were also retained. On the ground floor, the former cellular room structure was replaced by a generous sequence of spaces opening towards the garden. Particular emphasis was placed on framing the exceptional unobstructed view into the forest. In the basement and on the upper floor, all required rooms were redesigned and realised in close alignment with the clients’ wishes.
