To return the components of a former façade and structural mock-up to the circular material economy, a studio was created — an experimental space — a necessary roof structure on a temporary basis.   This roof structure represents only an intermediate step in the lifespan of around five tonnes of building materials, primarily three-layer panels and glulam beams. These were first used by the architecture office Herzog & de Meuron as a mock-up for an office building and, after being dismantled, will find further use as a component storage system for a new construction. The temporary interim use was what made the later reuse possible in the first place, since, for scheduling reasons, this reuse can only take place in the winter of the same year.   The mock-up was removed as a whole from its original location and relocated to a new site in its immediate vicinity. For its adaptation, the question arose as to what requirements a studio space must fulfil: the focus was on a simple, rudimentary façade addition to provide protection from weather. Simple components were used, such as roof battens, corrugated plastic roofing, and three-layer panels, most of which were reused and employed to close the main façade. The aim was to leave the components in as large a format as possible in order to facilitate their later reuse.
